In addition to VC and Investing Round Ups, I’m excited to share my first company “deep-dive,” where we’ll be digging into the companies dominating today. How are they so successful? What did they do to separate from the pack? And why are they going to win in this wild venture industry?
Which takes me to our first Deep Dive. Meet Grüns.
Another supplement company?! Yes that’s my reaction, too, every time I hear of a new supplement hitting the market. But with longevity, health, and wellness being at the forefront of today’s wellness movement, supplements aren’t slowing down any time soon… or ever.
Grüns are nutritious gummies with no fillers or artificial colors. And they aren’t just any gummies. Nor are they just any multivitamin, greens vitamin or prebiotic. Grüns is all of those things and then some… at a fraction of the price. And bonus, they taste like a little pack of fruit snacks! The gummies are vegan, nut-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free; basically they were made for me! While generic multivitamins only contain around 7-9 vitamins — Grüns has 20+ vitamins and minerals and 60+ whole food ingredients. And I could keep going… but you get the point!
Grüns was founded By Chad Janis, a former investor at Summit. He is clearly seasoned in the VC space, and after sitting on the board of several consumer companies, he knew exactly what the market was missing, and exactly what to do to win.

Why Grüns will be the next billion dollar company?
In two years Gruns has reached a $500 million valuation. Yes in only two years!! And with so much more in the works, at this lightning speed, I predict a $1 billion valuation next year.
Athletic Greens walked so Grüns could run. AG1 hit the market in 2010 and completely changed the way the world viewed “greens.” Using a powder form, a single scoop promised to serve your daily needs of vitamins & minerals, pre & probiotics, adaptogens, antioxidants, superfoods, and digestive support. The brand created the market, but has had its fair share of controversy. Grüns took those controversies and said, ‘we’ll do better.’ Creating a better tasting formula, in the form of gummies, and taking pride in their legitimacy.
They’ve proved greens, most recently launched Nutrops for cognitive function, I bet we’ll see more varieties. Copy and paste the same success model from Grüns to these upcoming products and home run!
Grüns store rollout has just begun. While the subscription model absolutely crushes for supplements, having an in-store option is necessary for the consumer your ads aren’t reaching! And believe it or not, there is still a massive segment of consumers who prefer to see/touch/hold a product before deciding whether or not to purchase. I actually did a campaign for Grüns when they launched in Sprouts. I went to my local Sprouts on one of the first days they launched, and the product was sold out! Completely! Grüns has since rolled out in target and beyond, and last week news hit that Nutrops has begun their store rollout, too.
Grüns also has Cubs. The same all in one comprehensive nutrition gummies with 21+ essential vitamins for development and 60+ whole food ingredients to support immunity, brain development, and growth potential for kids! What’s better than a product that a consumer can buy for themselves and for their cubs?!
Clinical Data is essential, and Grüns has it. Per the company, the ingredients in Grüns can yield:
41% increase in healthy gut bacteria
53% reduction in risk of mild cognitive impairment
75% reduction in immunity-damaging free radicals
91% thicker hair and nails + improved skin health
As someone who invests in supplements, I can confidently tell you that no clinical data or efficacy= NO long term success.

I loved reading this! I’ve been very skeptical about these as often times supplements heavily pushed online just seem too good to be true (I.e. AG1, lemme, etc). Knowing that they’ve been clinically tested to show the impact makes me open to trying them!
